Cool City Project: Is It realistic for UAE?

Cool city is the city that has special charachteristics and different standards of living. As every one has special charachteristics, the cool cities are not suitable to all people in thie planet especailly in UAE. As we all know, UAE has large population that are from different communities and nationalities with different ways of life. With the different strateges of living and charachteristics that the cool city has, some people in UAE will manage thier lives and continue the life with those charachteristics. On the other hand, some people will be diffeicult for them to keep going under those circumstances. Some of the adaptation that would work here in UAE is the mechanical roofs that respond to the temperature. Those roofs will let the air to be cooled during the summer and it will stop the cooling system in order to let the natural breeze to cool the weather during the winter. The other charachteristic that would work in UAE is the system of canopies and umbrellas that shade the streets and giant fans which are placed at different locations to create a cool, artificial breeze. As UAE is located in a desert area besides the high temperatures that reached 50 c degrees during the summer, those unbrellas and fans will work. The third thing is the circulating of seawater under pavements. In my opinion, this solution will be considred as an important idea to reduce the global warming as UAE is located on the Arabian Gulf.

On the other hand, those cool cities have some charachteristics that I think they will not work well in UAE. For example, some people can't manage thier lives by not using the private transportations. Masdar's city is one of the cool cities in where people should walk or take public transport to get around. This charachteristic will not appeal to all people here in UAE. In addition, cool cities are desighned with small flats that will nit be accepted to every one in UAE as they used to live in wide spaces. Also, because UAE is acually a desert, cool water misters are not particularly efficient where water is scarce in a desert environment.

UAE is trying to reduce the effects of global warming by using different ways such as cool cities. Dubai for example now trying to make more carbon neutral free zones. The article below is from the NATIONAL, and it is talked about the free zones to become carbon neutral:
